Who We Are
Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital (MKRH) was established under Legal Notice No. 148 of 20th September 2024, with the mandate to:
- Receive patients on referral from other hospitals or institutions within or outside Kenya for specialized health care;
- Provide facilities for medical education for Dedan Kimathi University of Technology and for research either directly or through other co-operating health institutions;
- Provide facilities for education and training in nursing and other health and allied institutions;
- Participate, as a national referral hospital, in national health planning;
- Provide access to available information and technical assistance to all institutions, associations, and organizations concerned with the welfare and treatment of persons with chronic diseases, including those controlled and managed by the national government;
- Collect, analyze and disseminate all data useful in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer and other chronic diseases;
- Advise the Cabinet Secretary on matters relating to the treatment and care of persons with cancer and chronic diseases and to advise on the relative priorities to be given to the implementation of specific measures;
- Perform any other function that is necessary for the achievement of the objectives of the hospital.
- Do or perform all other necessary functions or activities of a National Teaching, Research, and Referral Hospital, including undertaking ventures for the purpose of raising revenues to fund its activities wholly or in part.

MOPC
Diagnosis and management of common acute and chronic conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, and infections, in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Maternity Unit
The Maternity Unit is a specialized department within a healthcare facility dedicated to providing comprehensive care to women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. The unit offers a safe, supportive, and hygienic environment staffed by skilled healthcare professionals, including obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, and nurses.
Newborn Unit
The hospital has a modern New Born unit equiped witn 16-cots, 6 incubators, Cpap & Phototherapy Machines, Transport Incubators & Cardiac monitors. The unit is manned by specialised Neonatal nurses and paediatrician 24/7.
Dental Unit

Renal Unit
